Chambéry

The richness of the city's heritage, with its château, Saint-François cathedral and the old quarter complete with typical narrow back streets and trompe-l'oeil-style art recalls the influence of transalpine artists. And perhaps more original still, the Fontaine des Éléphants also called "quatre sans cul".

Contemporary heritage has found its place in Chambéry. Famous architects, such as like Botta (San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art), etc.), Galfetti, Morisseau, Keromnès and Cusson, have all met the challenge of integrating contemporary buildings into old developed sites and natural settings.
